Do you have a passion for supporting, developing and empowering individuals, particularly in the Intellectual and Developmental (IDD) population? Do you want to make a difference in an individual’s everyday life? Are you looking to work in a supportive, collaborative work environment with ample developmental opportunities?

Position Purpose

The Instructional Coordinator is a newly established leadership role designed to strengthen the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of instruction across the Laradon School. Serving students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) ages 5–21, this position bridges the gap between curriculum, data, and classroom practices. The Instructional Coordinator leads the school's tiered intervention framework — including Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) — ensuring that every student receives appropriately differentiated, evidence-based instruction aligned to their IEP goals and developmental needs.

This role requires a deep understanding of how RTI/MTSS principles apply uniquely in a special education facility setting, where all students already receive specialized instruction and supports. The Instructional Coordinator helps teachers operationalize tiered support within that context — identifying students who need intensified intervention beyond their current programming, facilitating data-based decision making, and building staff instructional capacity across the school.

No day is ever alike but you can generally look forward to the following . . .

Instructional leadership and curriculum oversight

  • Provide school-wide instructional leadership, supporting teachers in delivering high-quality, IEP-aligned instruction to students with IDD across the 5–21 age continuum
  • Support the development, alignment, and review of curriculum, scope and sequence, and instructional units consistent with evidence-based practices for IDD
  • Identify and promote use of research-based instructional strategies, including structured teaching, systematic instruction, task analysis, and universal design for learning (UDL)
  • Conduct classroom walkthroughs and provide constructive, non-evaluative instructional feedback to teachers
  • Collaborate with related services providers (SLPs, OTs, Mental Health Providers, BCBAs) to ensure integrated, cohesive support for students
  • Support teachers in differentiating instruction across diverse learner profiles including students with complex communication needs, multiple disabilities, and challenging behaviors
  • RTI and MTSS Framework Design and implementation
  • Lead the design, launch, and ongoing implementation of a school-wide RTI framework adapted for a special education facility setting
  • Clearly define and communicate Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support levels within the context of a school where all students receive specialized instruction
  • Develop and maintain a tiered support menu of evidence-based interventions appropriate for students with varying levels of IDD and co-occurring conditions
  • Ensure MTSS practices are culturally responsive and consider the full complexity of each student's profile, including communication, motor, sensory, and behavioral needs
  • Facilitate regular data team meetings to review student progress, adjust tier placement, and identify students requiring more or less intensive support
  • Support teachers in selecting, administering, and interpreting formative and summative assessments appropriate for students with learning differences (including curriculum-based measures, observational data, and portfolio evidence)
  • Develop data dashboards, tracking systems, and reporting tools that make student progress visible and actionable for teachers and administrators
  • Ensure data practices align with IDEA requirements, IEP goal monitoring, and annual review timelines
  • Professional development and instructional coaching
  • Design and deliver professional development on RTI/MTSS, data-based instruction, and evidence-based practices for diverse learners
  • Provide job-embedded instructional coaching to teachers, including co-planning, modeling, and observation with feedback
  • Partner with the Mentor Teacher to support new staff in understanding tiered supports and data practices
  • Build staff capacity in using assessment tools, data systems, and intervention strategies specific to the school population
  • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on instructional improvement and student outcomes
  • Administrative collaboration and compliance
  • Partner with the Special Education Director to align instructional priorities with school improvement goals
  • Assist in the development of the school improvement plan (SIP) with a focus on instruction and intervention outcomes
  • Support compliance with IDEA, state special education regulations, and facility-specific policies as they relate to instruction and intervention
  • Prepare reports and summaries for administration on school-wide instructional trends and MTSS outcomes
  • Data-Based decision making

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
