Job Summary:                      
As a member of the school leadership team, oversee daily operations of the school consistent with Laradon’s policies and procedures and requirements of regulatory agencies.  Leads long and short range goals and objectives as outlined in the organization’s business plan and school improvement plan.


Duties/Responsibilities:                  
  • Supervise special education teachers, specialized service providers, and paraprofessionals
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, and retention of qualified staff.
  • Serve as an ambassador and role model for Laradon to internal and external entities
  • Effective written and oral communications with Laradon personnel and external entities
  • Plan and facilitate staff meetings and training.
  • Act as Director in their absence, including attending, facilitating, and participating in meetings.
  • Oversee operations of the school related to facilities (including health and safety), technology, transportation, school lunch program, and staffing.
  • Assist school director in preparation of budgets, grant applications, correspondence, policies, school improvement plan and annual business plan.
  • Collect and analyze date to help staff improve effectiveness and efficiency of programs
  • Assist with coordination of admissions and discharges.
  • As Laradon is a small employer and employees work in a collaborative, team environment, employee must be physically present in the office to perform the different job functions.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Ensure compliance with Colorado Department of Education and Colorado Department of Human Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training:
All trainings deemed mandatory by Laradon:
  • A minimum of 24 hours of approved training annually
  • Orientation
  • First Aid/CPR
  • MANE/IR
  • Safety Care Training
  • Driver Improvement Training
  • 20 hours of on-the-job training.       

Minimum Position Requirements:
  • Colorado Department of Education license with special education or specialized service provider endorsement
  • Colorado Department of Education principal or special education director license preferred
  • Three years of experience as a licensed teacher or provider in special education
  • Supervisory/mentoring experience in an educational setting
  •  Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full work days; ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner.
